Assistant Professor, University of Dhaka

Mr. Md Juel Mia is a volunteer, researcher and environmental activist committed to advancing resilient communities in the face of natural hazards. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Mass Communication and Journalism from the University of Dhaka and a second master’s degree in Sustainability Studies from Texas State University. His primary research interests lie at the intersection of hazards and sustainability, with additional interests in human–nature relations, urban planning, environmental (in)justice, and risk communication. Before his career at the University, he served as a newsroom editor at Somoy News, a leading satellite television channel in Bangladesh.


Rathindra Nath Biswas

Research Consultant, CEGIS

Mr. Rathindra Nath Biswas has been working in the Remote Sensing Division at Centre for Environmental and Geographic Information Services (CEGIS) since January 2018. He holds an M.Sc. and B.Sc. in Geography and Environment from Jahangirnagar University. He has been involved in GIS and remote sensing since his undergraduate studies and has gained extensive experience in satellite image processing, remote sensing applications, land use and land cover mapping, and the analysis of fluvial landform dynamics.


Soumya Baral

Volunteer, Disaster Perception

Mr. Soumya Baral holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Disaster Management from the University of Dhaka. His academic and research interests center on natural hazards, sustainability science, and community resilience, with a strong emphasis on field-based and policy-relevant research.


Ashfaqur Rahman

Graduate Student, University of Dhaka

Mr. Ashfaqur Rahman is a master’s student at the Institute of Disaster Management and Vulnerability Studies, University of Dhaka, where he also earned his bachelor’s degree. His academic interests include climate change, hazard modeling, environmental justice, and sustainability transitions, complemented by hands-on experience in resource mobilization at BRAC and community-focused volunteer work with Give Bangladesh Foundation.
