Mr. Md Juel Mia is a volunteer, researcher and environmental activist committed to advancing resilient communities in the face of natural hazards. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Mass Communication and Journalism from the University of Dhaka and a second master’s degree in Sustainability Studies from Texas State University. His primary research interests lie at the intersection of hazards and sustainability, with additional interests in human–nature relations, urban planning, environmental (in)justice, and risk communication. Before his career at the University, he served as a newsroom editor at Somoy News, a leading satellite television channel in Bangladesh.

RATHINDRA NATH BISWAS
Research Consultant, CEGIS
Mr. Rathindra Nath Biswas has been working in the Remote Sensing Division at Centre for Environmental and Geographic Information Services (CEGIS) since January 2018. He holds an M.Sc. and B.Sc. in Geography and Environment from Jahangirnagar University. He has been involved in GIS and remote sensing since his undergraduate studies and has gained extensive experience in satellite image processing, remote sensing applications, land use and land cover mapping, and the analysis of fluvial landform dynamics.

SOUMYA BARAL

Mr. Soumya Baral holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Disaster Management from the University of Dhaka. His academic and research interests center on natural hazards, sustainability science, and community resilience, with a strong emphasis on field-based and policy-relevant research.

KANIZ FATEMA RIMI
Hazard Landscape
Kaniz Fatema Rimi obtained both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Disaster Management from the Institute of Disaster Management and Vulnerability Studies, University of Dhaka. She gained practical experience as an intern at the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, where she evaluated the implementation of government-led disaster mitigation initiatives. Her research interests encompass disaster governance, hazard mitigation, and social vulnerability assessment, with a dedicated focus on evidence-based approaches to reducing community-level risks.

ASHFAQUR RAHMAN
Graduate Student, University of Dhaka
Mr. Ashfaqur Rahman is a master’s student at the Institute of Disaster Management and Vulnerability Studies, University of Dhaka, where he also earned his bachelor’s degree. His academic interests include climate change, hazard modeling, environmental justice, and sustainability transitions, complemented by hands-on experience in resource mobilization at BRAC and community-focused volunteer work with Give Bangladesh Foundation.

Md. Shihabul Hossain
Deputy Manager, BRAC Migration Programme
Mr. Md. Shihabul Hossain is a development practitioner working in the field of migration, combating human trafficking, and climate-related vulnerabilities in Bangladesh. He holds a Bachelor of Social Science in Development Studies from Khulna University and a Master’s in Disaster Management from University of Dhaka. Alongside his professional work, he has developed a research background in renewable energy prospects, with a particular interest in sustainable and climate-resilient energy solutions. His work bridges the intersection of renewable energy potential, climate change, and socio-economic challenges, while emphasizing community-based solutions to address these complex risks, contributing to a deeper understanding of emerging hazard landscapes. He is committed to generating evidence-based insights and supporting community-driven interventions that enhance resilience, promote safety, and enable informed decision-making at both community and policy levels.

Iftekharul Islam
Researcher, Centre for Research and Development
Mr. Iftekharul Islam is a research and development professional with over four years of experience in disaster risk reduction, climate change, and social development in Bangladesh. He holds both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Disaster Management and Vulnerability Studies from the University of Dhaka, where he graduated with distinction and received the NST Research Fellowship. He has strong expertise in research design, tool development, field management, mixed-method data analysis, and report writing.
He has worked with a diverse range of national and international clients, including BRAC, Helvetas, Swiss Red Cross, Solidar Suisse, Swisscontact, International Rescue Committee (IRC), Manusher Jonno Foundation, Centre for Disability in Development (CDD), Caritas Bangladesh, and UNICEF. His areas of interest include climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction, gender and social inclusion, health, and policy development, livelihood with a focus on strengthening inclusive and evidence-based approaches to resilience building.

Md. Habibur Rahman
Research Coordinator, Dream Research & Development Foundation
Mr. Md. Habibur Rahman is a research and development professional with over four years of experience leading and managing large-scale field research and evaluation projects across Bangladesh. He specializes in designing and implementing rigorous research methodologies, managing field teams, and producing actionable insights for development and humanitarian programs. He holds both a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Disaster Management from the University of Dhaka, where he was awarded the National Science & Technology Fellowship for his thesis titled “Accessibility and Locational Suitability of Healthcare Services in the Flood-Prone Sunamganj District of Bangladesh: A Geospatial Analysis.” He has successfully led complex surveys and evaluations for national and international clients including UNDP, ADB, CARE Bangladesh, Oxfam, Save the Children, Helvetas, MCC Bangladesh, and Caritas. His work focuses on disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation, anticipatory action, and social development. He is proficient in KoBo Toolbox, SPSS, NVivo, ArcGIS, and other research and data analysis tools.
